Vote for a Pig on Parade!
March 15th, 2012
The Tennessee Saves Coalition in Chattanooga is encouraging everyone to vote on their favorite pigs at the annual Piggy Bank Parade. It’s part of the sixth annual Tennessee Saves Week celebration. This year’s parade is being held at the Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce’s Business Expo on March 21, 2012.
This year, approximately 47 entries represent a variety of “piggish” themes that promote both the competing organizations and good financial habits. Representatives from businesses, nonprofit organizations, government agencies and schools and universities have created these pigs to support the Tennessee Saves Coalition.
Winners will be determined by a combination of online and live voting. Online voting will take place between March 14 and March 21. Like the Tennessee Saves Facebook page at www.facebook.com/TennesseeSavesChattanoogaChapter and then vote by just finding the photo of your favorite piggy entry for 2012 and “liking” it.
All banks will be displayed for live voting at the free Chamber Business Expo at the Chattanooga Trade and Convention Center on Wednesday, March 21. Voting hours are between 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Winners will be announced at 3 p.m. at the Expo.
The Tennessee Saves coalition is comprised of area agencies that motivate youth and adults to set financial goals such as saving money and reducing debt to achieve a more financially secure future. Local partners provide educational programs and services to promote the importance of saving money for all ages and incomes levels.
Some of this year’s participating Tennessee Saves Coalition members are United Way of Greater Chattanooga, University of Tennessee Extension Services - Hamilton County, America Saves, FDIC, Consumer Credit Counseling Services, Urban League of Greater Chattanooga, Dupont Community Credit Union, Tennessee Valley Federal Credit Union, Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce, SunTrust Bank, Internal Revenue Service, and Hamilton County Department of Children’s’ Services.
